The P (sometimes P M) at the end of the obverse legend of this issue either stands for Pontifex Maximus or, more likely, Persicus Maximus, both of which were titles held by Philip I but not by his son Philip II. The bearded portrait with the large head and pointy nose closely resembles Philip's early Antiochian antoniniani celebrating the peace with Persia (RIC 72), from which it probably was copied
